Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and FamilyPlanner for your use of the service. By signing in or using FamilyPlanner you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. Using FamilyPlanner
FamilyPlanner is a private calendar and chore planner for households. To use it you sign in with a Microsoft account. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens under it.
2. Who can use it
You must be old enough to enter into this agreement in your country (and at least 16, or the minimum digital-consent age where you live). Children take part as managed members added by an adult organiser, who is responsible for them and for the information entered about them.
3. Your family and your content
You keep ownership of the content you put into FamilyPlanner — your events, chores, reminders and family details. You grant us only the permission needed to host and display that content to your family and to operate the service. You are responsible for the content you add and for having the right to share it with your family.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights using the service;
- access another family’s data, or attempt to bypass the security or family-isolation controls;
- upload malicious code, or disrupt, overload or reverse-engineer the service; or
- use the service to harass, abuse or harm others.
5. Connected calendars and third-party services
If you connect a Microsoft, Google or Apple calendar, your use of that provider remains subject to their terms. We request read-only access and only read the events you choose to overlay. You can disconnect a calendar at any time, which deletes the stored token.
6. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service running but provide it “as is” and may change, suspend or discontinue features. We may update these terms; if we make significant changes we will update the date above and notify you in the app. Continuing to use FamilyPlanner after a change means you accept the updated terms.
7. The software licence
The FamilyPlanner software is open source and licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0). These Terms of Service govern your use of the hosted service; the GPL-3.0 governs the software’s source code.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that reminders and calendar syncs will always be delivered on time. Do not rely on it as the sole reminder for safety-critical matters.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using FamilyPlanner and delete your account and family at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or to protect the service or other users.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory local law gives you other rights.
